Canadian Safe Boating Council Awards - January 15, 2012

It was a great pleasure to attend this awards banquet and witness the presentation of a number of awards to deserving Canadians involved in the boating environment.

Most noteworthy from the Auxiliarys perspective was the award presented to Douglas Duff Dwyer as the Volunteer of the Year!

Duff is a 20 year veteran of the CCGA (C&A) and has served as a SAR Crewperson, SAR instructor and Boating Safety Specialist.

Duff joins a group of Auxiliarists from across the Region who have, in past years, received awards from the Boating Council.  Included are members from the crew of Baitfish (Rescue of the Year), Les Reading (Volunteer of the Year), Jim & Nancee Adams (Volunteers of the Year), Jack Kruger (Marine Professional of the year) - to name a few that come to mind.

This record is certainly a testament to the dedication of all the members of the organization.  Our efforts are frequently not recognized but we do carry on fuelled by a good deal of self satisfaction and witnessing events such as this.

Hats off to the CSBC for this undertaking!

Don Limoges
Vice-President
